More About Your Phone Appointment

During the first appointment, you will talk with one of our clinicians who will gather information about insurance (if applicable) and to determine the best time for scheduling your consultation with the physician.

During the initial visit (via phone call) with the physician who will perform the vasectomy, we will review details including: the procedure, your health history, cryopreservation, the option of laughing gas (nitrous oxide) sedation, and answer any questions you may have. During or right after your appointment, we schedule your vasectomy appointment two to four weeks later. If using insurance, this timeframe may be longer. Finally, we will send you consent forms for digital signature.

Cost of Vasectomy

We understand that paying out-of-pocket for a vasectomy can be a financial challenge for many of our patients. Our goal is to provide permanent contraception for everyone who needs it, and we don't want cost to be a barrier to accessing this essential service. To address this concern, we have different options available, including payment plans or a sliding scale. Please contact us and we will work with your personal situation.

About insurance coverage

Age Policy and Cryopreservation Requirement

We have a strict policy regarding age and vasectomies. If you are under the age of 30, please review the following guidelines.

  • Age Requirement: Patients under the age of 25 are not eligible for vasectomy procedures at Tri-Valley Vasectomy.
  • Special Cases if Under Age 25: Special cases may be reviewed by the clinic’s medical director for patients under 25 with compelling reasons for vasectomy.
  • Cryopreservation Requirement: For patients under the age of 30 with no children, we will only perform a vasectomy if the patient has undergone cryopreservation (sperm banking) before the procedure.
  • Mandatory Counseling: Patients under the age of 30 must undergo comprehensive counseling to discuss the permanent nature of the procedure, potential for future regret, and the importance of cryopreservation.
  • Waiting Period: Patients under the age of 30 must undergo a 30-day waiting period to allow time for reflection before scheduling the procedure.

Informed Consent

All patients must sign a consent form acknowledging their understanding of the procedure’s permanent nature, the potential for regret, and the cryopreservation requirement (where applicable).
